View Poll Results: Will BenJarvus Green-Ellis Make the 53?
Interesting. Of those who've offered an opinion in this thread, I make it 9 don't see the Patriots keeping him, 8 say they will. On the other hand, 41 voters are predicting he will make it against 16 who say he won't.
What does that tell us? (Probably nothing...)

It tells us that an equal number of more passionate posters are on each side of the issue. There are more casual readers that think he will make it, but don't feel the need to explain why.
In short, I don't think it tells us anything about whether or not BJGE makes the team.
I voted for him to make it. The numbers are admittedly against him, but I feel he has shown enough to be on an NFL team.
I don't trust Taylor, Morris, and Maroney to go the whole year uninjured. Just to be clear, I'm not saying 1 of them might get injured, I am predicting ALL OF THEM will be injured as some point and miss playing time. The chance of being without all of them for an entire game or more is small, but not entirely improbable.
That's why I would prefer to keep BJGE around, but I also recognize the validity of the arguments against it.

I say No, he is a nice player but one speed RBs with average size are a dime a dozen. I will waffle if anyone can confirm that he participates on any special teams units. At least Maroney can return kicks (until game 3 when he goes onto IR). I would rather give his spot to a ST contributor who is on the bubble (Slater, Alexander, Vetrone, etc.).
Not only are you carrying 5 RB's for the first time so that Green-Ellis can substitute for any of the four, you have Green-Ellis as the heir apparent to Faulk? Faulk was on of our top receivers.

A simple yes-no question in all of the roster cutdown scenarios.
I voted, but it isn't a simple question. I think they will keep 5 RBs. Others think Maroney will be cut opoeing a spot for BJGE. Very big difference if you want to draw any conclusions from this poll.

That’s what we always do, and I think the last nine years we’ve put a pretty competitive team out there on the field every year. I think that’s how you do it – you get good football players. Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”

The season hasn't begun and already Maroney and Morris
are missing practices. It's only a matter of time until one
or the other is out for a significant length of time. Better
a backup like Green-Eliis to fill in than a newbie.
Can you name a single veteran on the team that hasn't missed any practices, with the possible exception of Brady?

What convinces me that BJGE doesn't make the 53
from the starting gun - tho' he well might later in the campaign -
is that on opening night, and thereafter until injury depletes the RBs,
Ben-Jarvus would be only a game day inactive.
As it is, Fred Taylor and Morris are going to have to split that role between themselves.
Along with Hoyer ... Vollmer ... Ohrnberger ... Pryor ... Wheatley .... Crable, if he's not IR'd ...
other developmental guys who'll get to play only when injuries occur
above them on the depth chart.
Since all the core ST players we think are on the bubble,
but who finally make the roster MUST BE ACTIVE
it is very hard to finger another to flesh out the 8 who don't suit up.
BB is not cutting useful ST-ers just to keep a 5th RB around in civvies
... whom he'll be able to either re-sign or replace at will if needed.
