Not quite sure why we're still quoting things that Marshall Faulk says outside of the fact that it's preseason. The guy was a good running back in the early 2000's but is no longer relevant. He's absolutely terrible as an analyst as well. Not Jamie Dukes-bad, mind you. But still bad.

While there are some commentators that create a "
must respond to defend my team" gut reaction, Faulk is not one of them.

His actions speak loudly and clearly to his own bitter resentment at not winning that super bowl game. He is dealing with it the best way he can.

His comments at this point really are comical, and say far more about him, then they do about his subject du jour.

As someone pointed out on a message board once, "here's the reason he's so bitter - MARSHALL Faulk = one Super Bowl ring, while KEVIN Faulk = THREE Super Bowl rings!"

The defense was the biggest factor on the team in all 3 Super Bowls but Brady had to play beyond expectations to have a championship happen and he did more than what most QBs could have in all those years, thats what seperates SB champs from also-rans.

We have not had a consistent defense (mainly in the secondary) the caliber of 2001-03-04 and thats the main reason why this team has been on a bit of a 'dry spell' - I would say the offense has been on par and obviously with Moss and Welker is better than those SB championship years, but our defense has dissapointed in the playoffs in the big games (however the OL was the culprit in SB 42).

IMO this offense of 2009 has SB potential, but I think the defense has a lot of work to do and learn along the weeks ahead to get to the level of its counterparts - If we don't get to the SB this year it will be on the defense, not the offense and Brady will be great as always

Yep. That's the same Faulk that told everyone on NFLN last year that the Pats would trade awayTom Brady and keep Cassel. Brilliant man.

You obviously didn't see the trade Brady thread that languished on this website for weeks.

I don't see what the big deal is. Faulk was right.

Prior to 2007, Brady was like Dilfer. He took talented teams to Super Bowl titles.

In 2007, he became Manning when he allowed his superior team to be beaten by a clearly inferior opponent.

Now, let's all just hope that he's more Dilfer than Manning this season.

Deus it's totally off-base thats the problem. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Why couldn't he have said, "Brady was like Troy Aikman or Jim Plunkett or Terry Bradshaw and then became Joe Montana." . He failed miserably at putting the evolution of Brady's career in it's proper context.

Trent Dilfer was, well....Trent Dilfer.
