Re: Interesting Patsfans.com info including daily traffic rankings
Interesting. My first thought on the large downward traffic spike is that it corresponds to the off-season. You'll note that it picks up when TC starts, spikes for the first pre-season game, then tapers off just slightly to the TC level. I'd say traffic will likely increase when the regular season starts.
Note, too, that there are 118 other sites linked to you. That has to count for something

Alexa isn't accurate. It is all based on who downloads their cookie, not all web traffic. There is no remotely accurate web traffic rankings anywhere. I got one competitor for my company who does less than half the business I do (I know based on what I know of the industry) and I am far better placed on Google and Yahoo for all the keywords yet his Alexa ranking it exponentially better than mine.

Yeah, and what's this all about?
5.5 min/day
Avg. Time on Site
5.5 minutes a DAY??????
But I'll bet it is reasonably accurate in comparisons. I think inmost cases, sites with more traffic will show more traffic than sites with lesser traffic. The absolute numbers are likely way too low, bur I'll bet they are pretty good relatively speaking.
Except the the idea that anyone is spending only 5.5 minutes a day here.

Sometimes they are not always at the No. 1 position, but I don’t think you pass up good football players to get the guys who aren’t as good just because they’re at a position that somebody feels you need.”

Rob's 100% right, the only ones who can gather accurate traffic statistic are the webmaster of the site in question, their ISP, or someone even further up the pipeline. If you don't route the packet, you don't get accurate data. And even then, some things are less than 100% accurate, like what web browser or OS they're using. And forget about demographics...

The way back machine is pretty interesting. I've archived a lot of those articles but haven't put them back up on the web yet - that was on my list of things to do some day, but there are hundreds of them. If you go back far enough you'll also find "Ian's Patriots Homepage" in there as well. I think only Lloyd Christmas was there for that one
I also snapped a screenshot of the front page of the site after each Super Bowl win. I'll have to publish those for anyone who wants to download them. I did it the first time thinking it was pretty amazing that our first full season running the site ended with a Lombardi trophy, and wanted to capture it since I didn't think it would happen again. Who knew there would be two more

I run Google Analytics to track traffic, etc. As mentioned Alexa's not all that accurate - pretty interesting that it's still as popular a measuring stick in the internet world. I don't know where they get their demographics info from....doesn't make that much sense.

According to Analytics you all spend 8:58 per day here. Apparently everyone comes to their senses two seconds before they realize 9-minutes a day is way too much time to spend on a website
