I don't think Bruschi makes the team. If he does, he will hardly play unless someone gets injured.

Just curious, how many years have you been saying this/thinking it should be done.

Yes, Thomas could move inside if Mayo or Guyton is injured, but that creates a larger problem outside since we would be counting on run contain (setting the edge) from Banta-Cain or Burgess.
I am not sure Lennon does but one has to way this scenario before just cutting him because he has been banged up in camp.

as to Thomas moving inside I was only saying that would happen if ILB got decimated. If two or three of them went down you would have no choice but to move him in and use the depth or lack there of on the outside.

This is actually the first year. In the past, I've never said to cut Bruschi, Seau or Vrabel, but I've said they need to improve the position.

oh OK so you didn't want to cut them because we hadn't replaced them but you did want them repalaced???

Then look for sanders to play a big role in stopping the run and forget 3rd long.

Are you still insisting that Bruschi is good against the run? Hes not. He's not a liability like he is against the pass, but hes not even close to good. Bruschi last year was the king of getting to the pile late and falling on top of a player that someone else had already tackled. Notice how he had as many assists as tackles? Notice anyone else whose stats look like that? He's getting favorable hometown scoring.

Guyton is a better player than Bruschi in every phase of the game, and Bruschi isn't fit to even be Mayo's backup. If Mayo gets hurt, we're going to see a huge dropoff.

To be fair, that's half because Mayo is so good, and not necessarily because Bruschi is so bad. I don't want to see Bruschi playing full time anymore, he's definitely way beyond that, but name me a team that can plan an above average contingency behind every one of their starters.

Almost every backup in the league would be a huge dropoff from Mayo. The issue is roster options for backup ILB's. Obviously these backups also need to be solid special team players. I favor Bruschi and Lenon. Who do you favor?

I don't really have a problem with Bruschi as a backup. My problem is some posters assertions that Guyton is a huge step down from Bruschi.
