That's what I was wondering too if someone can answer. I don't even remember much about Bam. Did he have a special teams TD also? I highly doubt he was ever as impressive as Edelman was last night or I doubt he would have been cut, especially in 2006 when we had next to nothing at wideout.

I think Edelman already did more in this one game than Childress' best preseason outing so you might say that he has already surpassed Bam. While the resemblance to Welker is uncanny, I doubt he'll have Wes' production in his career.

His practices have been good...BUT

We've only seen one game from him.

It's all relative to all the other roster spots in ref. to him making the team.

He was not a special teams standout but did return kickoffs and punts.

He got cut after Tim Dwight got healthy. And the Chargers tried to sneak him onto their practice squad.. To no avail.

Edleman is our 2009 utility player. He is well-worth a roster spot. He has played with the first unit. He returns well. I never though Childress deserved a roster spot.

And, I am a convert. I never thought he would would develop quickly enough to make the roster.

That being said, he hasn't made the roster yet.

Michael Bishop and Bam Childress looked like versions of Montana and Rice and were busts when it came to showing their stuff in REAL games.

Matt Cassel looked the garbage in preseason and now he is a multi-milion dollar starting QB.

Players are so unpredictable that it must be mind draining trying to figure out who is going to continue on as a good player and those who are no more than a fantastic preseason 4 week wonder.

OK, I remember Bishop playing well in the preseason, and Childress had some decent outings, but I would hardly say Bam ever looked like a beast during the preseason, and if I remember correctly he made most of his damage playing against backups. Honestly, I was among the posters who somewhat liked Childress, but I never thought he was anything spectacular. I simply thought he could help out back when the Patriots receiving corp featured a number of castoffs. Edelman just seems like a perfect fit for NE, and his overall athletic ability seems greater than Bam's ever was, but we'll see how things work out over the remainder of the preseason. I'll go on record as saying I highly doubt Edelman would ever make it to NE's practice squad if they were to cut him though.

I think the impressive thing with Julian is that not only did he impress early in camp but he has worked hard and improved what seemed like his early flaws and I think if he continues to improve he will definitely make the team even if it is miniscule because if shows continues progression one would have to wonder how much more he can improve when the bullets fly for real and after a full season and full offseason. Why would you give up on someone who has shown clear ability to improve with your (BBs) teaching?

Its funny how time changes perception, Thursday the big story was the return of The Dog Whipperer, but years down the road it may be best remembered as when Julian Edelman hit the ground running.

Just out of curiosity did anyone else get an email from the whitehouse asking me to help a nigerian prince get his fortune; and to support universal healthcare?
