Woods, 27, was the front-runner before Burgess was acquired, but Woods has just one career sack in three seasons.

This is a self serving comment, by an otherwise competent Gaspar. Woods was an UDFA college DE trying to transition to an OLB. What was he expecting from him. Gaspar knows that he spent most of his first year on the PS, and most of his second year on STs. He also knows that he started only 2 games before going on the IR last year; so IMHO how many sacks he has had prior to this year is pretty irrelevent....and Gaspar KNOWS IT. He's just trying to create the IMPRESSION that a pass rushing need exists, when we don't know it really does. Neither Crabel nor Woods have had sufficient time to make any clear judgement on what level of pass rushers they are going to be.
Re: WEEI.com: Burgess, Walter Happy To Escape Oakland
If we win the Lombardi this year I think at least a thread from the football on the Lombardi trophy should be sent to Al Davis to put in his Raiders trophy showcase which right now has some serious spider web issues.

Thanks--thought I might have been reaching a bit with that, but good to know it hit the mark. (I had this image of Derrick Burgess, standing in the rain like Andy Dufresne, reaching for the sky with a look of pure happiness on his face...)

Then would Doug Gabriel be Brooks Hatlen? I wonder if Burgess has trouble pissin without having to ask someone first.
