Default NFL Network segment on Vick yesterday pointed to one team - The Patriots

I was watching yesterday's NFL segment on Vick and they were saying on how when he is able to get out of confinement in 2 days and he will be free to be signed if Goodell sees fit, that the team most likely to be giving Vick a call first will be the Patriots and this was the ONLY team Dukes and Co. discussed for where Vick will end up.

They showed highlights of last years beatdown by the Dolphins over the Patriots in NE and the wildcat formation that totally screwed with Belichick's mind in a rare occurence and how Belichick wants to be able to do the same kind of stuff and that NE would be the likely dumping spot for Vick to use him to copy Miami's formation and make the wildcat virtually unstoppable.

While Edelman has not played a down and is yet to be assured a roster spot,Wasn't Julian the player many think will be used IF BB decides to try the Wildcat formation?

I can't see Vick in NE like they think,The media will go wild - Vick's best opportunity to get back in the league would be with joining a real bad team in a real small market where no one really cares and all their fans will take anything they can get.

And besides, why take the ball out of a VERY capable QB like Brady who can make plays more successful than the Wildcat ever could?.

In Boston's media market it would be a horrendous move, but apparently by watching that segment last night, the NFL Network thinks it will go that way I guess.

It always amazes me when teams talk about the Dolphins and the wildcat formation. They immediatley go to the Pats game. I agree that it was a surprise and it worked well in the FIRST game.

I do not believe BB is dying to run the wildcat. I also do not believe that the wildcat is going to become a common style of offense. IMO Edelman was picked for his athetism and his brains. The Pats will see if he finds a spot on the team.

What bothers me is that few reporters talk about how effective the wildcat was in the second game. After the Pats D had time to prepare for it they shut it down. BB doesn't need to look to the Dolphins for new innovative ideas. He comes up with his own every year

I agree that the Wildcat is not a need in NE

When you have a HOF QB like Brady you really don't need extremely fancy plays to beat a defense - Brady has shown he can beat defenses constantly and with everyday plays...and that was way before the Dolphins discovered the Wildcat.

Besides,I actually love the gimmick plays this team has done over the years like the one flea flicker against Pittsburgh in the Anthony Smith shut the fu(k up revenge game

I read something about Goodell leaning toward lengthening Vick's suspension. If this were to happen, it would have to wait. Personally, I don't want it to happen. Like you said, I don't see the point in taking the ball out of Brady's hands.

Another thing; a lot of writers and analysts keep bringing up how the Patriots were burned by the wildcat and seem to be implying that Belichick is somehow hellbent on using it himself. I honestly don't think he cares that much about it. Why would he when he has Tom Brady and all of those other weapons? They can just drop 40 points without having running backs taking snaps.

Just like when this team was burned by the blitz and pressure from rotating LBs like the Giants did well in SB 42 - You didn't see Belichick immediately go and fire the whole LB corps and his OL and get all different guys because the G men did so well that game Just like the Dolphins did in week 3 in 08 - It was ONE game from an opponent where it worked to perfection but usually when you beat BB's game plan once it does not happen again as the same with the Dolphins.

There will be another game this year I am sure where BB gets burned and it does not go as planned and we lose, but you won't see an overhaul of players or changes, just move on to the next week.

The thing about Miami's wildcat is that it was only game-changing for that one game against the Pats. Take out that explosion, and Miami was a below-average offense week in and week out. The sports media is still treating this wildcat thing as some groundbreaking future trend and it is not.

Tom Brady is a useless man on a wildcat play. What is he going to do, recieve? Block? Say Vick gets signed...sure the guy can play QB for a few snaps, but what do you do with BRady, take him off the field? Talk about telegraphing your plays?

Edelmen is here is a practice body to prepare the defense for opponents like Miami and Atlanta who utilize the wildcat. If he catches on as a WR or a KR, great for him.

Does Belichick really strike these guys as a man who is that desperate to succesfuly run the wildcat offense that he's running round on the phone to an ex criminal and about to use cap space just to execute a play he might use a few times, all while leaving the best QB in the NFL on the sideline.....?

Dukes is obsessed with Vick and is going after any excuse and senario to back up his view he's still worth something in the league.

Nutter.
