It is somewhat misleading to read that Miguel lists us as having 36 signed with $52M available, so we are fine. First, Vrabel's dead money and that of other dead money that will be there is not accounted for. Also, many players (at least a dozen) listed are not likely to make the 2009 roster. On the good side, the 2009 rookies aren't listed. I revised and ended up with 32 players coming back. I have not included any RFA's except LeVoir who will almost certainly be tendered.
I think that we are in normal shape, except for the situation on the lines, where so many have contracts that are up, including Seymour, Wilfork, Green, almost all the interior linemen and almost all the tight ends.
As I have indicated, extending Wilfork and Green would go a long way toward 2010 roster stability on defense. On the offense, I suppose the best that could be done in 2009 is to extend Neal and/or sign a long-term deal with Johnson or Hochstein.
OBSERVATIONS
1) At $1M a roster spot and $6M for end of the year stuff ($25M or so), that still leaves us with $20M-$25M for top players, presuming there is a cap at all.
2) We are fine at QB, RB, WR, CB and S.
3) We are very thin at TE, OG, and DL.
4) We could be fine at LB, depending on Crable.
5) We have no kickers, punters or long snappers.

Ragging on Miguel is not going to be a popular move. Worry about 2010 when 2010 comes. This is 2009. The guy does this for charity, can you give him a break?

Miguel gives every bit as good as he gets. He'll be o.k..

You can track Miguel back to 2001 when this site was still new. I made alot of posts back then that have gone into internet oblivion.
I know Miguel will be OK, I just wonder about the families that rely on the Bread of Life Foundation to get by. I think he does a great job with his pages and maybe people shouldn't be so quick to criticize someone who puts himself out there for a worthy cause.

But it's really fun to pick on Miguel.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH
FWIW - I do not take what mgteich said as derogatory towards me.

I don't think mg meant to rag on Miguel at all - I think he was just getting into 2010 a bit and what we are looking at.
I tend to agree - worry about 2009 first, just as in the Wilfork situation, he is under contract this year and can be franchised next, two years is a long time, while I would love to see an extension it is a true must.
Now - I challenge everyone reading this and all those that use anything Miguel write to DONATE TO BREAD OF LIFE. I sure will put my money where my mouth is....
