I was going to refer to numerology, but scrabble works just fine.

Seriously, they're essentially the same player athletically. I don't really get the whole 1st round talent vs 2nd round reach thing, either. Just because my mortal enemy Wes "I paid a guy 10k to learn what a 5-tech was" Bunting ranks a guy somewhere doesn't mean that's how he is. Just slap the tape on and watch the two. If they switched jerseys, you couldn't tell the difference.

We selected Butler at #23? I must have missed that draft......

At any rate, on paper, Butler would look to be the better talent, but it remains to be seen who has the better career.... Remember where TB was selected?

The funny thing about "first round talent" is that it varies from year to year. I don't think Butler would have been "first round talent" last season. This season, a down season for corners, he was a 'steal'.

An elaborate way of not posting.

I really like both of them but I'm going to say that Wheatley will be starting opposite Bodden sometime this year. I liked what I saw of Wheatley in the Colts game (except for the wrist thing) and I believe he will be successful this year. I haven't seen too much of Butler but what I have seen intrigues me. He has lots of potential. Butler is a good tackler despite his size, has great ball skills, but I am really impressed with his footwork and change of direction skills. In the end, I think both will have very good careers but I have to say Butler will be the better CB. Butler is a future pro bowler.

Wheatley is 5'9 btw, I don't get it when people say that he's 5'10.

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Terrence Wheatley

He had good performances at the combine though. He's got the quick twitch characteristics that BB likes in his corners.

My guess is as good as the next person's... In other words, I don't know the answer to the question. Still, I give Butler an advantage as a rookie because he can play on special teams.

I don't know if Butler will make most fans forget about Ty Law, but I believe he has the talent to be a mainstay with the Patriots if he works hard, avoids serious injuries over his career and makes the best of his opportunities. Because Butler reads like he has the talent to be one of those players that you try to find a way to get him on the field as often as possible, either on defense or offense. I doubt the Patriots will ever consider him as a receiver. However, I believe he has decoy written all over him. At worst, he can be used in the red zone like Seymour or Vrabel.

I'm afraid I'd have to disagree. I'm going to have to go with Crable...
