Default Our Best 25 on offense: 2 QB's, 4 RB's

The Practice Squad is the place for two of Gutierrez, Hoyer and Edleman, and also the place for a developmental running back or two.

We say we want to keep the best 53. It seems that Slater, Aiken and Ventrone are all valuable on special teams as roster players.

OFFENSE (25)
QB (2) Brady, O'Connell
RB (4) Taylor, Faulk, Morris, Maroney
WR (7) Moss, Welker, Galloway, Lewis, Slater, Aiken, Ventrone
TE (3) Watson, Baker, Smith
OT (4) Light, Kaczur, LeVoir, Vollmer
OG/C (5) Mankins, Koppen, Neal, Hochstein, Ohrnberger

What about making Edelman QB#2 so we can use him as a WR? We can still call in O'Connell if Brady goes down, right?

1) Edleman is not more valuable than Ventrone.
2) Why do you want Edleman as the #4 receiver in 4-receiver set instead of Faulk, Lewis or Watson? If Edleman is an effective WR, he will need to beat out Lewis for a roster spot.
3) I don't believe the #3 QB can come in unless both QB's are injured, except in the 4th quarter where there are no restrictions. Someone can correct me if I am in error. After all, the EMERGENCY roster spot is just that.

Isn't it Edelman who's supposed to have game as a KR?

- not so much that he is worth a roster spot

As I said in the last post, Edleman's best shot is to beat out Lewis for a roster spot, presuming that Tate isn't ready for the season (in which case the spot is his).

We have Maroney and Faulk as our primary kick returners. Wheatley and Butler are returners, as is Lewis. There may be more.

We will all have our binkies among the 5th, 6th, 7th rounders and UDFA's, and maybe one or two might make the team. Barring injuries, it seems doubtful. Even with injuries, there is a remarkable amount of depth without these players.

These players are primarily competing for Practice Squad positions and hoping they can show enough to make positions where there are openings, as Guyton did last year. But there are really no openings, except at LB where Appleby is our early binky.

Why call him a QB at all if he's not going to play QB? (And at 5'10", he's not.)

He can come in and play at any point, but once he does the #1 and #2 can't return. If the Emergency QB comes in during the 4th, others can return.

Thanks for the correction.

It would seem unreasonable to put in your emergency QB (unless 2 QB's were injured) before the 4th and then have no backup QB.

Does anybody have an idea as to when Tate should be ready, even what month are time period? Will he be ready for the season?

The best guess here seems to be that he will start the season on the PUP list and hopefully be available at mid-season.
