Obviously, injuries can happen, but this roster is looking as strong as any, other the 2004 roster. And I do expect another free agent or two to further improve the roster.

Good stuff - I think you've identified some of the fiercest camp battles, QB spot #3, and depth at the OG, OT, OLB & DB positions. I'd still give Dave Thomas a chance to make the roster though.
It is going to be another interesting camp, I just hope that all the guys who don't stick wind up on the PS (if eligible) and not on the Chiefs or Broncos roster.
I'd still give Dave Thomas a chance to make the roster though.
It's going to be real hard for him unless he becomes a special teams demon. I think Watson is as good a receiver as him (in an offense that doesn't rely on the TE to be a receiver) and clearly a better blocker. The other guys they brought in through FA or trade for a reason. Unless we want to carry 4 TEs or move him to WR, he's a longshot IMO.
In the Levoir, Britt, O'Callaghan derby my bet is on Levoir. He's a Charlie Weiss Notre Dame guy I believe, so he should be familiar with the system. The fact that he started back to back wins for us at tackle in 2008 may also give him a leg up.

I think that either OLB or TE might get an extra roster spot over the three QB this year. It seems that the QB's are young enough that they could stash one away on the practice squad and just keep two on the 53 man. Of course there may also be a veteran QB brought in to blow that up, so who knows.
So, to take MG’s ROSTER AS OF MAY 4 a step further, here is who appears to be in, who appears to be out, and who appears to be on the bubble as of right now.

STARTING THE SEASON ON THE PUP LIST
- ??: WR/KR Brandon Tate
Players slated to not make the roster (unless they make one of those last three spots) that are also currently among the top 51 on Miguel's cap page: Al Johnson, Sam Aiken, David Thomas, Eric Alexander, Le Kevin Smith, Damane Duckett, Dan Connolly, and Russ Hochstein or Billy Yates. They would be repalced by Gary Guyton, BJGE, Patrick Chung, Ron Brace, Darius Butler, Sebastian Vollmer, Tyrone McKenzie, Rich Ohrnberger or George Bussey, and two additional players to reach a total of 53.
In regards to possible candidates for the Practice Squad, I believe that would be limited to the twelve draftees (Chung, Brace, Butler, Vollmer, Tate, McKenzie, Ohrnberger, Bussey, Ingram, Pryor, Edelman, Richard), five recently signed undrafted free agents (Appleby, Hoyer, Love, McClinton, Porter) and Wendell, Malone and Craig. As far as I know the rest, such as Listorti, DeVree and Adams are not eligible - but perhaps somebody else can verify.

I agree that Thomas is likely out, but not a slam-dunk. He's certainly got as much of a chance as, say, Britt, and would note him as Alex Smith/Dave Thomas.
I would guess that in the "last three spots" competition, there is some categorization.
LeKevin Smith/Pryor/Richard are presumably looking at the seventh DL spot. Hard to imagine an eighth, and given injuries and the level of talent on the 80-man, probably want a seventh. I give Smith the big edge.
There are usually nine LB's, so Redd/Alexander/Appleby is another good competition. Don't forget Appleby, who as a college 3-4 ILB has a decent shot here. Also, I'm not so sure Crable & TBC are clearly above Redd, given a year in. Crable has a better college resume, but Redd is bigger and faster, played ST, and back-up OLB last year. Redd is bigger, faster, and younger than TBC. I wouldn't be shocked to see Thomas/Woods/Crable/Redd on the roster, with Alexander and TBC competing for the 9th LB/ST spot. Of course, I'd be delighted with Thomas/Taylor/Woods/Crable/Redd, losing TBC & Alexander.
Aiken/Ventrone/Slater sets up a competition for the last spot, an almost solely-ST role, like Je'Rod Cherry and others. That's wide open.
