Re: How would you guys feel if...
I'd rather have a impact LB like Curry instead of Jackson. I look at this way, how much of an impact can DE in a 3-4 have without quality LB's backing him up? DE's in a 3-4 are not expected to get sacks, but tie up blockers in order for OLB's to get after the QB/RB. The Pats have had the best D-line since 2004 but average LB's at best since then. From 2005-2009 the Pats have had major issues with depth and impact players at the LB position. But who knows, maybe the Pats feel Curry doesn't fit their scheme and believe that someone that fits their scheme can be had in the 2nd or 3rd round. In the end, I would rather have the Pats trade up for potential stud at LT than Tyson Jackson who will probably not make much of an impact until the following season. I look at this draft as players that can make an impact now, rather than looking towards the future. In fact, the window isn't going to open for ever.
Regarding Peppers, just because the Pats don't trade for him on Saturday means he can't be had. I believe I read it in the Charlotte Observer, but it said that Peppers won't sign the tender because he's afraid the Panthers would trade him to a team that he doesn't want to play for. Also, even if Peppers signed the tag, I believe the Pats would want to hold on to their draft choices this season and try to deal for Peppers around May or June. I still don't think the Panthers can keep him and they already freaked out by signing Jake Delhomme to a 40 million dollar deal. The Panthers are going to have do a couple more of those extentions or cut a few more players. If Peppers really wants out, he will get traded if he continues to hold out.
