Brady would have been on the sideline cheerleading if Belichick wanted him to. He said no way, you'd just be a distraction and every time Cassel makes a mistake the camera will pan to you...with BB it's out of sight (and not at my disposal) out of mind.
You are mixing two points. Bill does move on but not now. Once the season starts he plays with what he has. Now he is searching every avenue to make the team better.

The prevailing opinion on NFL Radio last week was that JP does not want to be the "face of a franchise", nor does he want to be in the spotlight. Perhaps New England is not the place for him if that is the case. It could also contribute to why this story seems to have little legs.

It wouldn't surprise me if Peppers saw how interested the Patriots were and then realized the pressures of playing in this market and indicated that he is less than thrilled about what playing in NE entails. Carolina is a much friendlier place than New England when it comes to coddling their superstars.

I think Dallas did this when they got Galloway from Seattle. BB

would have to lose all his marbles to do this.

To me the longshot of signing Peppers and getting him under the cap not only revolves around moving some cap space about but also the question of if the Patriots FO sees this years draft as a talent laden bunch of OLBs or DEs

If the FO thinks the draft is strong in those areas on defense then there is NO chance to Peppers signing here,If they feel OLBs and DEs in the draft are not looking so great and no real true can't lose talent is out there, then there remains a longshot chance to sign Pep IMO

"At this point, with the draft picks and CAP space he's going to eat up, I would rather keep our picks and develop a young edge rusher and keep our 4 day one picks. He can stay where he is."

I agree with you on this. Lets develop a few younger guys on defense.
