Take it for what it's worth because it's coming from the mouth of Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter, but in a video interview posted inside this story on the website of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Porter implored the Miami brass to sign free agent Jason Taylor before he goes to the Patriots.
Porter told Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel today that he's spoken to Taylor and that the NFL's active career sacks leader would love to return to the Dolphins, where he spent the first 11 seasons of his career.
Porter said he hopes the Dolphins make the move, but then hinted that if they don't Taylor was headed to New England.
"I'm just watching SportsCenter every day to watch for it to come across the ticker," said Porter of the Dolphins signing Taylor. "I mean Jason really doesn't want to go anywhere from me talking to him, but if it doesn't happen he would have to. Hopefully, we can get him in before he makes that trip out to New England because you really don't want to have to play against him twice a year.
"We know what he can do as a player. I've played against him forever. It's always going to be up top [that] those guys are going to make those decisions, and it's kind of tough to comment on that when you have no control. I don't want to be the one lobbying for something that I feel like puts them in a tough position. I don't want to do that because they like me and I like them. ...But at the same time we need Jason. If we can get him go ahead and get him."

edit: Porter says Taylor could be on the way not both of them of course. Bad title.

A couple of independent reports suggest the Dolphins aren't real interested in him. I have little doubt he wants to go back to Miami but it doesn't seem to be mutual.

I'd like to see JT here to see what he can bring, but, honestly, this whole thing seems to have a stink to it that I'm not comfortable with. Too much time gone by, too many mixed messages. I hope it happens, but I'm increasingly pessimistic.

Jason Taylor probably wants very much to return to the Dolphins to be
near his kids but it takes two to tango. Unfortunately for Jason, the
See, I get the vibe from that that Taylor wants to return to the Fish and the ball is in their court. Basically, Porter is making it sound like Pats are his second option.
