I hope the reports are right. I think he could be a real threat in the pass rush and give any rookies time to develop.
Basically what I think, as stated in the other thread :

He's played for Saban before so Belichick knows how he could use him and Taylor understands the concepts so he wouldn't need the indoctrination time as much as others. Peppers intrigues me as a medium term solution but the money and draft picks needed for him make Taylor more attractive to me.

Exactly. If BB was willing to let a vet like Roman Phifer hang on the west coast to be with this family, I'm sure he'd make the same exception for a seasoned All Pro like JT.
Just goes to show the differences in a confident veteran coach like BB vs. a first-time, self-conscious & diffident coach desperate to show the team he is in charge.

I saw the article about a source close to Jason saying the Pats were his #1 choice, but I don't remember where.
Not exactly a poor fallback plan from Peppers, but we better draft a 3 down OLB.

If this is true it means means there's no pressing need to to waste our #1 pick on an OLB project, so say goodbye to pick #47 (or 34) and hellooowwwe Rey Maualuga.
Anyone who throws water on that scenario is either insane or has some other agenda.

Right, I'm just thinking long term, but I suppose any of those guys could be blossoming into a 3 Down OLB. I have a feeling Woods is going to turn out special. Not based on hard data, just a feeling watching him progress until he joined the face of the month club.

Let's not get to excited. Just because the Pats are Talyor's top choice doesn't mean that the Pats want him, or are even interested.
Also, Kraft didn't exactly say he wanted Taylor. He said:
Quote:
"Great player," owner Robert Kraft said with a big smile while at the owners meetings. "I'm sure that can happen if he wants it."
In other words, if Taylor lowers his price from the $8 million he turned down from the Redskins to less than the three million we cut Vrabel for, then he can make it happen.
When a player comes out an says Team X is my favorite choice, all that means is that team X has not yet seen fit to sign him.
This is a fishing expedition, that's all. My guess is thaat Taylor want $$$ more than than he wants to be a Patriot.

Taylor didn't turn down 8 million from the Redskins. The Redskins cut Taylor because he saved them 8.5 million against the cap since they didn't have any signing bonus money to worry about.
Taylor wasn't a happy camper in Washington for a variety of reasons. Also, the fact that he nearly died because of the leg injury he sustained probably didn't help matters any and is probably why he wants to spend more time with his family this off-season.

Now whoever might you be talking about? I haven't the faintest clue.
