Re: Did Brady's frankness possibly hurt the Patriots in Cassel trade negotiations?
It may actually increase it. Teams that know that Brady is (coming) back now have to anticipate bidding early on Cassel vs later. The later Cassel is traded, the more teams will have settled their QB situation. If the trade happens earlier rather than later, more teams will have a hat in the ring.
Re: Did Brady's frankness possibly hurt the Patriots in Cassel trade negotiations?
i doubt it will hurt. if a team wants cassel, im sure they can have him. but they arent evaluating whether or not to trade for him based on brady's health. they are basing it based on Cassel's abilities. SNY has a bunch of morons on their network

Young is thinking that teams are looking at this by thinking that if this is true and Brady is ready for camp or even sooner, then the Pats want no part of keeping two high priced QBs and will take whatever they could get with a reasonable offer from other teams interested in Cassel to loosen the cap $$ - interesting way of looking at it

Re: Did Brady's frankness possibly hurt the Patriots in Cassel trade negotiations?
I would agree with Her premise if there was only one team that was in dire need of a Quarterback but as We all know there are at least 5 teams and maybe as many as ten or twelve teams that have a need to upgrade the Quarterback position. All The Patriots need is two or three bidders and up goes the price.Let the bidding begin.
Re: Did Brady's frankness possibly hurt the Patriots in Cassel trade negotiations?
A smart team, that is in need of a QB, will be glad Brady is seemingly fine and coming back. Their chances of landing the top available QB is greater that way.
If they are smart, they will realize their choices boil down to over the hill, has been that never will be vets or unproven rookies (none close to what was there last year) and one franchise QB, just sitting there for the taking.
My guess is the bidding has already begun and I would not be one bit surprised to see the deal cut on the first day the trade can be finalized.

Re: Did Brady's frankness possibly hurt the Patriots in Cassel trade negotiations?
Since injury talk is taboo with the Pats, one has to assume that this talk is being considered "a help" in Foxboro.
I am sure that even TB would have some framework to discuss an injury. Also, he would help out MC because higher compenation for the Pats should correlate to a better contract for MC.
Re: Did Brady's frankness possibly hurt the Patriots in Cassel trade negotiations?
Silly notion. It would only be true if there was one team that might go after him. If the Pats want Cassel, they'll keep him. If he's available, he's available. Brady could be walking on crutches and that wouldn't change anything.
I think the upside is, what Brady and Bob Kraft have been saying is this: "Fellas, you better get your bids ready, because the window won't be open long."
