As a sign of respect, McDaniels decided he wouldn't hire anyone from Belichick's staff.
One of the many things that makes this guy the anti-Magini.

Nice read by the way, and in before the JMcD bashing begins from our resident broken record.

Character wise McDaniels seems to be light years ahead of Mangini. He was also a MUCH better coordinator than Mangini was over our defense.

He did some good things here and is a good OC, but I'm still glad he's gone because I think our chances of winning a Superbowl just went up. I don't want a Mike Martz/McDaniels type who will get stuffed in the playoffs by a good scouting defense anymore.

This shouldn't come as a big surprise to anybody who's read Education of a Coach. I don't recall any explicit references in there to coaches grooming their subordinates for future jobs, but that kind of ethos was implicit all the way through. Besides, if you're a teacher you're a teacher, and the book made it clear that BB-like coaches (and I suspect it's pretty universal) see themselves as teachers. (Both those who are kidding themselves and those who are not, actually.)

Well-said. I really wish the Broncos were in the NFC. Josh is the ultimate class act. If we're out of it any given year, I will root for the Broncos every time.

McDaniels head coaching experience will make him an even better coach when he takes over for BB in 2018 in NE.

He never coached for the Patriots, but rather for the Browns during Belichick's years there.
