If you read my entire post, you would see that I have acknowledged this issue, but there is in fact a huge difference.
As it is right now, the Super Bowl losers do find themselves in this very situation, and what do we see happen a lot of times..........the Super Bowl losers will not show up unless the player chosen is a first time Pro Bowler. I'm glad to see Warner, Fitz, and Boldin bucking the trend this year.
My entire point, though, is that the way the Pro Bowl is set up now, it has a high liklihood of losing players from one team, the Super Bowl loser.
The way the Pro Bowl will be next year though, it will lose player from 4 teams (both Super Bowl participants will be GUARANTEED NOT to play, and the 2 championship game losers). So therefore you are not just enticing a bad turnout from any four teams, but four of the BEST teams which contain a high majority of the Pro Bowl teams.
Could you imagine if the Pro Bowl was before the Super Bowl last year and the #1-seeded Cowboys made the Super Bowl (they had 13 players on the team) or the #1 seeded Chargers the year before? Talk about a LOT of replacements.
