Wow. His shirt actually managed to out-ugly the Welkstache. [Seriously. That shirt needs to be burned, pronto.]
Interesting comment: he's under the impression that if the Pats franchise him, he's probably staying; he still hasn't really discussed it with the Pats.
Per ESPN, fans from the Lions, Chiefs, and Vikings seem interested in having him there.
If he could pick his future: "I guess I'd be somewhere playing."

I've been reading over at Chiefsplanet since Pioli took over in Kansas City. I'm really hoping that Pioli trades that #3 overall pick to the Patriots. It's not because I really want that pick or anything. It's because I'd love to read the follow up threads as the fans lose their minds.

I still say Cassel is wearing a Pats uniform next year. "I guess"? Someone who wants to go out and be a number one QB is up there saying "I WANT". They push their agent to push the team in that direction. He's been Patriotized. He knows there isn't a team in the league that he can go to and have a better chance at winning than right here with the Pats. Odds are that the more a team is willing to give up to get him, the more desperate they are which means the odds of his success are lower. Then what? After a couple years he'll be branded as the backup QB that won only because he was with the Pats.
I'm not saying Cassel isn't a good QB and that he can't succeed elsewhere. I just think he knows how good he's got it right here in NE.

Cheaters!!!!!!!! Cheatriots!!!!!!!!!!!
"They suck they cheated, don't you know that Cassel was supposed to go to the Titans as a UDFA and them damn cheatriots ripped them off by going and drafting him in the 7th round"
whaaaaaaaaaaa
Is that what you had in mind?

Hahaha. The only reason I clicked was to see his shirt, because I figured he would be wearing a nice, stylish "LA" shirt that East Coasters would think is ugly and I would defend him, and sure enough, he's wearing a shirt I just bought 2 weeks ago..
I'll admit, it looks weird on TV with the stripes (never wear stripes on TV) but that is a very handsome & stylish shirt.

If so then he is foolish and honestly I wouldn't want him on the team with that mentality.
He is good enough to be a starter in this league and he should want that. Winning Super Bowls is great and all but how rewarding can it be as the backup? I'm sure Drew looks at his with admiration all the time.
Only a weak minded person would think that way (what I highlighted above) and I think he has proven that he is anything but. He wants to go somewhere - I'm sure he has his preferences - but in the end, starting anywhere is better than being the backup on any team when you are 27 years old with 5 years in the league and an 11 win season under your belt.

No, even better. Do you remember how a fair number of people here were absolutely savaging Moss before the Patriots traded for him and then had to choke it all down?
Imagine that with the loss of the #3 overall pick instead of a 4th rounder tossed in for good measure.

Ah, I see. I know a lot of folks think the Pats never want to pick in the top 5 or hate it etc... But I don't buy it. I believe they prefer to draft a little further down and would always look to move down if/when they find themselves in that situation, but that isn't solely because they "hate" drafting there, it is because there is just to much value in trading down, both in picks and rookie money. But I am sure they would love to take a monster LB or OT at 3 if they had to.
Honestly, I think the Chiefs would prefer to trade their pick down for extra compensation and then dump a lower pick to NE for Cassel (if of course they are interested). But unfortunately the Chiefs probably wouldn't have a trade partner until draft day and Cassel will be wearing a different uniform long before then.

I think deep down he knows that he's not likely to have it better anywhere else in 2009 than he had it here in 2008. Also, remember it's not the Patriot Way to badmouth the bosses--especially when they're still trying to decide whether to franchise him or not.

The great irony about fans who's teams have a top 5 pick is that they spend the entire time complaining about how they hate picking that high because the contracts are "so ridiculous" that it's actually bad to pick there and they'd rather trade down, right up until the point where someone makes a trade suggestion. The it's "No way! That's not a fair trade! Our team had better get a lot more that that for the pick!", no matter what the trade offer is.
I'm convinced some Lions fans would be screaming "Brady, Moss and Mayo for the #1 pick? No way should the Lions make that trade! That trade sucks! Brady and Moss are old, and Mayo's probably just a one year wonder."
