Default Pats hire new ST coach: Scott O'Brien

O'Brien accepts job with Patriots - The Denver Post

Quote:
Scott O'Brien, the Broncos' special-teams coach the past two seasons, is leaving for New England, where he will be reunited with head coach Bill Belichick, according to an NFL source.

Belichick was coaching the Cleveland Browns in 1991 when he gave O'Brien his first NFL job. While O'Brien's role is not yet defined, he could become the Patriots' special-teams coach as it's expected Brad Seely will leave New England to coach special teams for Eric Mangini in Cleveland.

It sounds as if BB and/or Seely decided early in the off-season it was time for Seely to move on.

Looks like a good pick up and potential upgrade at the position. Hope looks aren't deceiving.

Personally, haven't been in love with the special teams play the last few years. I am guess since Seely is moving on to Mangini that Belichick wasn't either.
