Two recent penalties for excessive celebration:

One to celebrate a wife's pregnancy
One to make a snow angel

That penalty on Welker was absolute BS. How in the world do you view making a snow angel as "un-sportsman like conduct"?

This is the year. We put our failures in the past, it's a new year, a new defense. It's time to prove to the league that the Patriots are back and aren't going anywhere and they will be the last ones standing in Feb.
Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

He even put the ball aside so you couldn't call it using the ball as a prop. Amazing.

That was specifically outlined as a "demonstration" that would draw a flag when they redefined the celebration rules. You're not allowed to go to the ground. Welker looked surprised.... he shouldn't have. The second he started his snow angel I said, "here comes the flag..... but who cares, good for you Wes!!"

Even Donovan McNabb knew that going to the ground is against the rules.

I both have no problem with them calling that penalty on Wes and every problem with them calling that penalty on Wes.

If you go by previous calls in the league then yeah it was a penalty.

But, it's a stupid rule to begin with. If you're openly taunting the other team right in their face or something that's one thing, and should draw a flag for the taunting penalty on the books, but celebrating a touchdown should not be a penalty. Imagine if in the NHL every time someone celebrated a goal they got a 10 minute misconduct, or in basketball if someone hits a key shot and they throw their arms up in celebration it's a technical?

Now I understand the people who are all "Just act like you've been there before." But creativity should be encouraged, not discouraged.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I thought it was a great and very appropriate celebration, so even though I knew the flag was coming, I didn't care. I mean... how many opportunities do you get to make a snow angel on the field during a game? And besides, I think they had more TDs than Arizona had first downs at that point so the 15 yards was no big deal.

I thought the whole team should have run out there and made 53 snow angels all across the field.

Default Wes Welker's Snow Angel

Anyone think penalizing Welker for a snow angels was a little harsh. I mean come on let the guys have there 10 seconds of fun and then get back to the game no big deal.

NFL = No Fun league
