Default Pats IR: Highest ever total

We all knew this situation but Reiss does a nice job of tying it together and comparing it to 2003 and 2005 season totals.

Since the start of training camp, the Patriots have placed 14 players on season-ending injured reserve, which is the team's highest total since the current injured reserve rules went into effect in 1993.

The IR situation, coupled with other injuries, has tested the team's depth.

Overall, the Patriots have had 41 different starting players this season. This comes close to rivaling 2005 when the Patriots used 45 different starters, and 2003, when the team's 42 different starters were the most by a Super Bowl champion....

Actually, if they get in the playoffs, the superbowl is a pretty good chance IMO, and even the AFCCG is more than most people would have ever expected with all the hurt players. (except me ofcourse, I guessed it from the begning cuz im the biggest fan ever!)

So should we add 14 on IR to the record tracker?

Here's hoping we don't beat the 2005 record!

I wouldn't mind if we beat the 2003 record if that means we win the SB!

That's what I call, PERSPECTIVE.

With ya, in every way. Enjoying this year immensely, whether we make the playoffs or not. Love this team as much as all the other teams we've had since 2001. Actually, since 1973, when Mack Herron got me into the Pats in combination with the Bill's constant blackouts.

And yeah, why not? Seen it before.

As for number on IR in the NFL...wjy do I remember some Eagle team having almost 20 a ways back...there were rules as well I BELIEVE in the 80s..90..I THINK about how many players could be on IR...there was an actual number and I didn't follow the team as I do now..so I don't remember details...I also remember that one could risk a player taking them off IR and if he cleared waivers they could bring him to the 53..I can not recall who the Pats did that to..but essebtially the lost a decent player for nothing..pretty dumb..AGAIN..I do not recall

Right, there's teams in 2008 that have more players on IR than the Pats do (Bengals, Ravens, etc.), nevermind in past years (2005 Eagles, 2006 and 2007 Bengals, etc.)

But it would still be a franchise record.

At least they don't have the Bengals' 22, or Jacksonville's 16.
Any numbers easily accessable for EACH team??
