Re: Three NEP players make the Fox All-underpaid team.
Seems like a lot of the UNDERPAID are still in rookie contracts, as expected. I can see a bunch of those guys turning into OVERPAID players in free agency (Derek Anderson: Matt Cassel, Tony Brown: Tommy Kelly). For that reason, this list doesn't really say much about how well a team is ran by upper management. Guess you can reach and say that the Pats had a great 2005 draft given three of their picks ended up on the UNDERPAID list (Cassel, Mankins, and Hobbs).
On the flip side, it is clear which teams are mis-managed by owner/management. RAIDERS locked up OVERPAID slots with Javon Walker, Tommy Kelly, Michael Huff, and DeAngelo Hall. I would assume Jamarcus Russell was second place in OVERPAID QBs, but I think it is fair to assume that Thomas Howard and Kurt Morrison are in the UNDERPAID category.
Next years nominies should be (from the Pats)...
Jerod Mayo (LB)
Brandon Merriweather (S)
