What's the record of starters/players lost to injury?
I'm sure I could find it if I tried - but deep down I'm just a lazy bastard.
Can anyone help find the NFL record for player days lost to injury in a season - and let us know where the Patriots rank in that?
I'd heard the Patriots were pretty much tied for the NFL lead in that category this season - and I'd think the more recent injuries would give us the "lead" (which of course has allowed the Jets and the Dolphins to tie us for the AFC East lead as of Week 14)
So if anyone can share info about where the Pats rank in that regard this season, and in comparison to the NFL record I think that would be a very telling stat that would really show just what an accomplishment this season has been.

That would be a nearly impossible record to keep, but the 2005 Pats (and formerly the 2003 Pats) hold the record for a division champion for the most players with at least one start in a season.

yeah, wasn't it something like 43 different starters in each of those 2 SB years?

I think Bill hates injuries (duh), but loves the challange they present. IMO.

the stat is kept. i think it's something like "Starters' games lost to injury," but I don't know where you would find it and couldn't find it with a quick Google search.

It's something like that, I remember them talking about it on TV but never can find the statistics, but we did set the record twice.
Re: What's the record of starters/players lost to injury?
It must be somewhere - someone must know. I'm sick of hearing other team fans delude themselves that losing your QB, multiple running backs, members of the OL, DEs, LBs, NTs, CBs, Ss etc is just typical of what every team in the NFL endures.
It's not - but even if it were, few teams would be tied for first place in their division after whethering that storm.
Re: What's the record of starters/players lost to injury?
Last year, Colts' fans talked a lot about our number of injuries, but I never got the story straight in how those numbers are computed. I know they had a ton of starters who missed several games. Pats fans on Colts boards would say get over, we set the record back in '01, or whatever it was. Now, apparently, it is okay to talk about again, as it inflicts your team this season. I know the Bengals are up to 20+ players ir'd so far this season, and that doesn't include Carson Palmer. In the end, regardless of who you root for, injuries are very frustrating. And sometimes, just when you think your team is getting healthy again, another rash of injuries occurs. TB, Morris, and Maroney are the guys I think you miss most. Thomas was a later injury, but still costly. Not sure about Harrison, as he was most likely in his last year anyway. How WAS he playing?
