Lightbulb Some thoughts from Rosey Colvin

The newest New England linebacker just wrapped up a session with the media in the Patriots’ locker room. Here’s a quick sample of what he talked about:On being back…It’s mixed emotions. It’s definitely a good opportunity to come back and see guys I have a history with. A chance to run around and play football [...]

Doesn't sound like he's been doing much of anything to stay in football shape but he was always kind of light hearted so I wouldn't be surprised if he was exaggerating it a little.

Somewhat interesting answers. Doesn't seem that excited to be back and was just as content with what he was doing. I wonder what personal issues he was referring to.

Such fire! Such passion! Such hunger! hehe

He reminds me of Faulk or Wilfork. They talk like football bores them to tears.

Looks like he was playing down the expectations and trying to set the bar low. I like it!

What I don't like is his admission of 'personal issues'. Could it be health?

Personally, I think its refreshing to hear a guy talk about football like its an occupation and acknowledge that their family is more important to them. There's too many posters on here that think Brady's losing his edge just b/c he has made the same acknowledgment. The reality is that I doubt there is a single player or coach in the NFL who would consider football the single most important thing in their life, yet fans don't want to hear it.

I think possible personal issues could be depression from not getting any calls.

You gotta be at your low point for the Texans to cut you.

It didn't sound like it Whatever his issues are, they are, and BB probably knows the deal or at least as much as he needs to know about it.

He DID have some sorta weird-sounding comments tho, stuff that could be taken a couple of ways I guess.

I just hope Rosie isn't this mellow ON the field; he brought some serious fire whenever he played and I hope he's still got plenty of it

I think you guys are making the same mistake I made when interpreting the comments from Colvin on Reiss' Pieces without the context.

Colvin does not have "personal issues" right now. He simply means that he is now more involved in his own personal life, and is mixed about giving up his free time to commit to football.

That's how I think it should be taken, he was not alluding to any issues or troubles in his life. As you can tell from the interview, he was clearly enjoying his time with his family and being away from the game.
