Moss vs. Asomugha 1 on 1? - Page 2 - New England Patriots Forums

I hear Asomugha is a Great CB indeed in the Champ Bailey mold. But didn't Champ Bailey have help over the Top countless times vs Moss? Even at 31 Moss is a Freak with his size/speed combo. Based on last weeks Game i think it's fair to say the Cassel/Moss combo have arrived.

Moss is a physical freak of nature I'd take him over any CB.

I'd pick Moss over Aso, but that's not to diminish Aso, but a nod to the reality that the rules simply favor the receiver THAT MUCH. Even average receiver will catch balls against better CBs, simply because the rules allow it.

That has to be taken into consideration when make that kind of comparison

Good point! Why throw to their best player when you can exploit the weakness of the rest of the team? With that said, I like that Raiders CB, but nobody can guard Moss one on one. CB's may have the speed to keep up with Moss but they will lose 9 out of 10 times to a jump ball in the endzone. CB's may be able to contain WR's like Moss and Burress in the open field, but when their offenses get close to the redzone, it's virtually impossible to guard them one on one.

but i still think he's passed Champ as the best Corner in the league.

the guy is frickin awesome.

A well placed throw and a well run route gives the corner no chance.

That said, it is a salivating line up.

It would be even better to see them lining up across from one another in camp

Law was right on moss at the end of the jets game was all over him and moss sit got the ball. Corners can only cover a receiver they can no longer hit him until he is safe so in the redzone if the QB puts it wherever the CB isn't a guy like moss will win every time. Asomugha can only cover half of Moss, so I think moss will own him in the endzone after Welker takes most of the grabs in the open field to march us to the redzone.
