Where is the nice read here? Ian O'conner hates Bill Belichick. His articles written about Belichick last year were brutal, inaccurate, and self-important. If you can't see that he is trying to undermine Belichick then you are unable to read between the lines.

If I remember correctly, Parcells hasn't won anything without BB.....BB has 3 rings and an undefeated regular season without him.

Great memory, I read it to about the 3rd paragraph and then scanned the rest.. when he started to mention spygate, and stats with and without Brady I moved on.. nothing to see here.

I agree. Just another opportunity for an inferior reporter to drag the Patriots through the past.

I like both Parcells and Belichick, however let me pose this popular question.

If I had one coach to choose to coach my team, the decision would not be a hard one to make...

You gotta give Parcells credit though. He took four different franchises over a 20 year period and built them from the bottom of the league to the playoffs, and relatively quickly. Nobody else has done that.

and BB hasn't won anything without Weis; so maybe Weis is the real genius?

Both BB and Parcells are great coaches; and both are smart enough to find smart people to work under them

Parcells is a good coach. But it's much harder to build a dynasty than a one-year wonder, especially in the free agent era.

Free agency allows teams, even horrible 1-15 teams, to fill in the holes on their roster. A good football man, which Parcells certainly is, will have little problem with identifying his teams's weaknesses and the appropriate free agent aquisitions. Most horrible teams, and especially the one's Parcells has taken over, have favorable salary cap situations which makes the turnarounds that much more likely.

There is a flip side to Parcells turning around so many teams. He is a mercenary. He either wears out his welcome or quits before finishing the job. The goal is to win Super Bowls and Parcells has only done that for one of the five franchises he has led.

Whereas, Belichick is more in the mold of a Shula or Noll. Coaches intent on building organizations that could be successful year in and year out. That's what coaching is all about. That's the type of coach that should be honored.

That is the point, no one wants to do this and in some cases has worn out his welcome.. often thought that Parcells has late onset ADD.. he gets things started and then moves on... no long term focus.

Of course BB took the pats to an undefeated regular season and super-bowl last year...if memory serves me, Parcells has never done that without BB. BB also has stayed with one team much longer than Parcells would dream of. There is no doubt that Parcells is a great coach and probably GM....he just has a short attention span.
