Default Best head coaching job in the league - Where does Belichick rank?

I don't think BB has done the best coaching job in the NFL this year despite not having the franchise quarterback and other injuries to key players down the road becuse I think the core of the team is still intact and there are a lot of veterans who have won before with injuries

I would put Tony Sparano as not only best rookie coach but he has instilled a winning attitude on a team just removed from a 1-15 season

I would put Jeff Fisher in 2nd seeing how he has the best team in the NFL on a roll now at 10-0 and possibly many more before/if they lose but not just because of the record but the fact that he has a journeyman quarterback playing the best ball of his career including his collegiate play way back at Penn St. and a rookie sensation at RB that people scoffed at when he was selected in the first round - Haynesworth nd Co. on the other side of the ball are totally disciplined and its an all around well run team - Fisher is 2nd best IMO

I put Belichick in a tie for 3rd best coaching performance with Atlanta's HC Mike Smith

So to sum it up - My best NFL head coaching jobs in 2008 at this time are..

1) Tony Sparano
2) Jeff Fisher
3) TIE: Bill Belichick/Mike Smith

Who is your top 3 picks for best head coaching jobs so far and where does Belichick rank with you? - If you are strickly homer pass unless you REALLY think BB has done better than everyone else

I think Jeff Fischer will get it barring some kind of losing streak unless Belichick is able to get to 11-5 or better.

If Sparano's team wins this division and enters the playoffs I don't care if Tennessee goes 19-0 - Sparano would be NFL HCOTY

well first, I don't think the Dolphins will in the division. Second, I think Parcells takes some of the shine off of Sparano, at least in the eyes of the writers.

A lot depends upon what happens the rest of the year. If the Titans lose a game or two then Fischer will suffer for it, Parcells overshadows everything down in Miami....just listen to any broadcast and it's "Parcells dolphins" If the pats win the division, then I don't see how they can't give it to BB unless the Titans go undefeated. Losing the amount and quality players we have and still being here is crazy, especially if we go on to win a very competitive division.

This can't be settled until December. But, should the Pats somehow manage to win the division, I'd move BB to the top of the list. If they end the season 9--7 and out of the playoff picture by Christmas, I don't think that BB would put himself anywhere on that list.

What if the Jets win the division? Does Mangini deserve consideration? I know no true Pats fan wants to think he is a good coach but it would be a big turn around from last year. If people say no because of all the talent the was pulled in in the off season does the Jets GM deserve consideration?

GM, maybe (and even then, he has Vernon Gholston hangin' round his neck like an albatross. . . .). Ratgini, no.
