1. Midseason MVP - Tough Call. I will go with Faulk. he has stepped up big in quite a few of the Patriots wins. I don't know if anyone has stood out as MVP though.
2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year - Welker
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year - Thomas
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year - Thomas. Not that he played horrible last year, but he was less than what we expected to get. This year he may be more.
5. Midseason Rookie of the Year - Is there a question? Mayo
6. Midseason Coach of the Year - McDaniels. He has really done a great job helping Cassel progress especially in his pocket awareness and decision making. He's the QB coach and OC so the credit goes to him.
1. Midseason MVP: Kevin Faulk, The only legitimate game-changer to play every game.
2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year: Matt Cassel, the logic being that he has stepped up way beyond my expectations (since I'm deciding these awards, that's what counts, LOL).
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year: Brandon Meriweather, this guy is shaping up to be a faster, younger Rodney. If he keeps making picks and laying down brutal hits, he's going to turn out to be a gold-strike.
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year: AD, he seems to have some vengeance in his veins this year. Runner up would be Sammy Morris. If only he weren't missing games.
5. Midseason Rookie of the Year: Mayo. Undisputed. If were ranking based on playing beyond expectations it would be Guyton.
6. Midseason Coach of the Year: McDaniels, he's adapted the offense well, could maybe stand to burn the midnight oil a little more dreaming up creative plays, though. The Wildcat is not for the Pats.
7. Most Improved Unit: Linebackers.

We just completed game 8, so I figured it was time to hand out some midseason awards. Here are the categories:
1. Midseason MVP
2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year
5. Midseason Rookie of the Year
6. Midseason Coach of the Year
Nice thread idea.
1. Randy Moss He changes the way teams play us. Game plans like we had last nite would not be possible if we didn't have Moss forcing teams to play their safeties back. If we had the 06 set of receivers and Cassel was QB, we'd be in trouble. Moss is a big reason Cassel has done so well thus far.
2. Moss - See above.
3. Adalius Thomas - His versatility has just been huge. He can do so many things. He's been pretty good in coverage, good against the run, and very good as a pass rusher.
4. N/A
5. Jerod Mayo - No question, though Guyton has been great as well.
6. Josh McDaniels - Has adjusted nicely and found ways to have an effective offense without TB.

2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year - Wes Welker
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year - Ellis Hobbs - I'll defend him no matter what
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year - Can Matt Cassel qualify for this? He didn't really have anything to comeback from, but he sure has been much improved over what I expected.
1. Midseason MVP - Cassel - the last guy who had to fill shoes this big was Scott Mitchell. Matt has been doing an awesome job under the circumstances.
2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year - Wes Welker
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year - Thomas
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year - Sammy Morris - he didn't do much last year, so this year is a huge improvement.
5. Midseason Rookie of the Year Mayo.
6. Midseason Coach of the Year - I assume Josh. Maybe its Brady or Bill. But whoever is coaching Matt.
1. Midseason MVP - Faulk - But it's hard to not to go with Cassel - Many of you want to kill the poor kid becasue he does not play like a certain First Ballot Hall of Famer that is on the IR, but when you think about what he has done in 8 games? It's really quite impressive.
2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year - Cassel
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year - Mayo - He's been the most consistant defensive player from game one to last night.
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year - Bruschi or Morris - Can't decide
5. Midseason Rookie of the Year - Mayo
6. Midseason Coach of the Year - Bill

2. Midseason Offensive Player of the Year - Cassel, he has stepped in and played well, no mistakes....
3. Midseason Defensive Player of the Year - Gost, technically not defense, but his touchbacks and consistency have been huge.
4. Midseason Comeback Player of the Year - Thomas, playing like we expected when we signed him
5. Midseason Rookie of the Year - Mayo
6. Midseason Coach of the Year - McDaniels, done a great job as QB coach

A sarcastic Bill Belichick on Tom Brady's finger injury, "It's not life threatening."
Midseason MVP/Offensive Player: Give one to Kevin Faulk, the other to Matt Cassel.
Midseason Defensive Player: Adalius Thomas. Playing like we expected.
Midseason Comeback Player: Brandon Meriweather. He corrected the faults in his game, and has been huge so far this year.
Midseason Rookie: Jerod Mayo. No question.
Midseason Coach: I'll go with Josh McDaniels. He's done a great job bringing Cassel along.
And I'll add a couple of my own:
Midseason "Wow" Player: Gary Guyton. I figured he might see spot duty. I never expected he'd get as much playing time as he has. (He's in line for a nice bonus at the end of the year from the performance pool.)
Midseason Performance: Stephen Gostkowski, v. JEST. No, it wasn't eight FGs, but I'll take four FGs and five touchbacks any day of the week.
Midseason Play: Matt Cassel's first official completion to Randy Moss. The crowd was basically dead before that play; Cassel's throw brought the crowd back to life in a BIG way.
Midseason 7-11 Award: Wes Welker, because, you know, he's always open. How open? Well, he's on pace next week for his 200th reception as a Patriot.

I concur with your picks
1. Cassel...We sink or swim with our 4th year rookie
2. Welker...6 catches a game...nice to have a sure thing
3. Thomas ....had 2 monster games
4. Morris....hope we won't have to vote for him in this category next year
5. Mayo....becoming a sure thing
6. BB gets the nod ( but get over the screen pass love affair)
