Not true. The following is from the Reiss/Vega Boston Globe article. This is how Wilfork described the meeting:
Wilfork also detailed that his first fine last season - for a low hit on Bills quarterback J.P. Losman - was a big part of the meeting.

"That's something that really bothered me, because I think that's the one that led me to being looked at last year. That play right there really labeled me," Wilfork said. "They told me and showed me what they were thinking. They looked at how long the ball was out [of Losman's hands] and my elbow. I could understand that and I said, 'The last thing I want is for you to judge me as a dirty player. That's not me.' I think I got through to them, but at the same time, I understand what they're thinking about.
Saying that he can understand why someone would fine him is different than him saying he committed a "cheap shot."

A high school newspaper writer could see the difference. Chris Mortensen can't. Another football media titan showing how little you have to work to maintain your position in the business.

Goodell's "Toolness" is not a surprise. He exposed it last season.

Actually, this makes sense. If you paid attention to the language used by the league office in reference to the fine, they never stated that the fine was for that particular hit, but rather for a pattern of behavior that often jeopardizes the safety of the rest of the players around him.
But I highly doubt Vince admitted that the Losman hit was a cheap shot, as he and Belichick have staunchly defended it since it happened.

Let me ask a dumb question. If there was obviously doubt about whether Vince hit Cutler, and Cutler pats Wilfork on the helmet after the play, why the hell was he fined?

Apparently not. Unless you believe Wilfork is a liar.
