As I have been stating since the beginning with Ommissioner Roger "Clouseau" Goodell, his ridiculously over-the-top manner of imposing 'discipline' was a bad idea. Well, it's setting up a very confrontational situation in the future, when CBA discussions take place. The owners really need to get rid of this clown before he does even more damage to the game.

Well, if his predecessor didn't do a CBA that was in danger of ripping apart the league financially, the players would have no recourse. Because the league needs to now go back and renegotiate the CBA, the players have bargaining power to get things like neutral abitration for suspensions.

So it will end up being like baseball where the player who knows he won't win the appeal can delay the hearing and then cherry pick the games he will miss. Can they get this in place before Wilfork gets his likely suspension? I would rather not have him miss either Indy or Buffalo.

I never had a problem with Goodell imposing his will against characters such as Pacman Jones but these "unneccessary roughness" penalties are a JOKE. We were all spoiled under Tagliabue's rule.

I liked Goodell when he punished Vick, but he's has gone too far with everything else. I can't stand the games out of the country, no team should have to sacrifice a home game to travel out of the expense of the money hungry NFL. Also, there seems to be fines every week and Palamulu is right that this game is becoming a joke. I miss Tagliabue, he was the best. The NFL needs to overthrow this douchebag and get the real NFL back.

I think the players want an 18 game season. Another 2 game checks. Why wouldn't they want the money. It isn't like Goodell will be able to get away with adding two more games at the current salaries.

He was on UK tv during the Wembley game telling us that for the next 2 years there will be an 'international game' abroad, probably Wembley again, but that further down the line he wants a 17 game regular season for each team, with the 17th game being played abroad in either Canada, Mexico or Europe. You could see the dollar signs in his eyeballs as he was talking.
He said that he had discussions with Peter Scudamore, the English soccer chief, who wants an extra game for every Premier League team to be played abroad, the 39th game of a current 38 game schedule. It is all about money.
No thought for the ordinary fans. I hope both plans fall on their respective butts!! I would love to see the Pats in real life, will do one day, but not at f*****g souless Wembley!! One of the reasons I love the game, is the atmospheres generated at Gillette, Lambeau, Heinz Field etc. If anyone in Europe wants to see their favourite NFL team, get on a plane to the States. Keep the NFL in the USA and English soccer in England!!!

Goddell's punishment of the off the field criminal activities was just and in the best interests of the league imo. ON the field however is a way different story. He's essentially beginning to take the game itself out of the hands of the players and teams,leaving less and less up to their discretion, and giving the league,it's committees, and himself more and more power. It's changing not only the way the game is played but also how it's actually coached. Now we have a retired army general or whatever he is, sitting in a chair examining tape for any signs of gang signals. Meanwhile there's so much money being poured into gambling and fantasy football yet half the officiating blunders we've witnessed over the last year or so haven't been addressed at all.

Goddell's dangerous for this league imo. I see a lot of money being made but not much of it seems to go into the right places. The Ted Johnson's of this league should be more of a priority than paying some general to sit and look for hand motions.
