Default Interesting info on Chargers

FNIA blogger breakdown: Week 6 - Sprint Command Center - NBCSports.com

Quote:
Recently retired Patriot Troy Brown, now working as analyst for a Comcast SportsNet, had some interesting comments about the Chargers this week, perhaps giving some insight as to how the Patriots feel about them. He talked about LT's immense talent, but also his habit of crying about the wrong things. He also said that he doesn't place Philip Rivers among the elite quarterbacks in the game, citing poor mechanics, and how having LT, Antonio Gates, Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson make him look better than he really is.
anyone see this locally out in boston ?

They also observed that he can get so easily distracted by crowd "input" and/or perceived slights that it's been detrimental to his game at times. Sounds about right to me

I agree with Brown's comments on Rivers technique, but I think the Chargers did the right thing by NOT trying to change it. All too often, coaching staff try to change what worked for a QB throughout his career.... and that player fails. Rivers gets it done and that is all that matters.

Now, I do think Rivers benefits immensely from having Gates, LT and Chambers. Helps that they have a good defense too, because I don't see him carrying his team like Peyton did when the Colts defense sucked!

Rivers is overrated, but he does have some intangibles and can read some defenses. He is a team leader and poor techinque is acceptable till they start losing.

But most overrated is Jay Cutler!

I would take Cutler over Rivers any day.

I really believe that having those big targets helps Rivers.

That kid throws one ugly ball, just putrid.

I'd take Cutler too-he's way less mouthy. Rivers is a showboater as much as he is a QB and sometimes that gets in his way. He loses focus too easily and gets too caught up in the drama. If I were a Charger fan I'd say just (Please be quiet - edited) and play. I like Rivers but he's too caught up in that whole environment to ever progress beyond where he's at unless he takes on a whole new attitude. You either want to play football and be the best you can be or you don't.

I think there are/have probably been a lot of talented players in the same or a similar situation, and I think environment, example, and expectations are part of what separates the Patriots from a lot of other franchises.

it's actually when the crowd taunted him the past couple years, that he played better

and what blame game has rivers ever taken part in? the guy is like tom brady in his media interviews
