Default OT: Davis wants to win…just not on the field

Davis wants to win … just not on the field - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Quote:
That's why Davis' bitterness over Moss' departure is so ludicrous, for the owner completely misses the point: In a dysfunctional situation like the one in Oakland, he would always have been a checked-out underachiever. Only in a stable situation like New England's, with a culture of professionalism and veteran leaders (and a strong head coach) to enforce it, could Moss maximize his potential.
pretty good article. no wonder moss/jordan etc had a hard time in oak ,performing.

I figured Dallas was heading down the same road a few years ago as Jerry Jones is another megalomaniac who appeared to believe his years of watching football made him a competent coach. Dallas hit the skids, and Jones had to relinquish control to Parcells to get him to bring the team back to credibility (not completely mind you, but you cannot expect miracles). Davis' team tanked against Tampa Bay and downward spiraled straight down the toilet bowl and continues on its path to the sea.

As much as I respect the history of the NFL and Davis' role in that history, the Raiders fans will be looking to the 70s and 80s for positive memories as long as he runs the show. I contrast him with the Rooney family with the Steelers. I would like to see the Rooneys stay in the NFL mix as that franchise has benefited from their involvement. As for Davis, the sooner he gets out of dodge, the better off the NFL as a whole will be (excluding the benefit of course of the virtually guaranteed win every time the Raiders land on your schedule).

The real ironic thing about this is he has always been this way. See the late Pete Rosel and Mike Shanahan. The man is a vindictive little man with a low self of steem.

On a similar note RK was pretty close to becoming a medelsome owner early in his tenior and all though it ultimately made Bill Parcells look bad Kraft was wrong to interject his opinion when it came to football with BP. He even admits he had to learn to pull back when that ordeal finally ended. Maybe someone should tell Davis hey you're old go take a nap for a while

Wow! I had no idea it was that bad in Oakland. Davis seems hell bent on driving that franchise into the ground. I find it interesting that this kind of a situation makes the NFL look bad and that the commish is more worried about player haircuts touchdown dances.
I know he works for the owners but the mess in Raiderland is something that needs to be addressed.

I wonder if he is doing this to make Oakland ASK him to leave. That way he can go back to Los Angeles to a future new stadium.

Can you imagine someone in the Pats organization distributing bad articles on BB?

You know something is seriously wrong when the Lions have 30% more wins than your team does over the last five years.

You forgot to mention that you got robbed for Welker. 2nd round pick there was well worth it for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins 5-11 in 2007, that's just laughable.

NO. Kraft has never been a meddlesome owner. There are 2 occasions people used to reference when talking about Kraft being meddlesome and they flat out are not meddling. 3 occasions if you're a moron.

1 - Siding with Bobby Grier over Bill Parcells. There was a change in the organization to make Grier in charge of player personnel probably because Grier was responsible for some of our better picks, especially in the 1995 draft, but regardless once that change was made Kraft wasn't siding with Bobby Grier he was saying they had to go with the organizational changes they had made. The fact that Grier was right in wanting Glenn over Cedric Jones (the Parcells actually wanted Tony Brackens stuff was hilarious after the fact retconning) doesn't matter.

2 - The Christian Peter situation. Maybe YOU think not wanting a goddamn rapist, who was not only convicted of sexual assault but also lost a civil case about ANOTHER college girl he apparerently raped, is meddlng but I think an owner has every right to say that there's a point that they don't want someone on their team.

3 - Stopwatch at the combine. A completely untrue story people believed was true after Dan Shaugnessey said it in one of his columns. He was being satirical but that didn't stop people who wanted to hate Kraft for Parcells' departure from not only buying it hook line and sinker but also using it in their little anti-Kraft tirades.
