I think the ire of Jets fans is directed towards the coaching staff taking off the shackles as opposed to Favre being washed up. I know personally thats where I stand. Let Brett sling it 30 plus times, take the good with the bad and let him go out and have a bigger impact on the outcome of the game. I have no problem with the sink or swim by Brett motto.

They are not an old defense and they did not mortgage their future.

The Pats defense is not old at all. Bruschi Vrabel and Harrison are up in age but thats about it. Wilfork, Seymour, Warren, Green, Mayo, Thomas etc... are all young in just reaching their prime.

Both teams are going to have very good defense going forward.
I think most can agree with what you said. I think the only way the Jets reach very good is if Gholston can at least become a dependable pass rusher or if Bryan Thomas keeps showing that he wants to play to his contract.

I suspect that the average age of the Pats defense goes down further if measured by snap, particularly with Meriweather in for Bruschi on third downs.

Snap counts from Reiss' blog today would skew the Defense age lower.

I would despise the Jets a little less of va- sorry, MANgina were to get fired.

Keep rooting for that for the Jets. It's possible.

Thing is, the Pats ALREADY have a very good defense.

I just wonder if Chad would have looked better with all the changes. He might have been able to score you equal in wins what Brett does.

I hope you go 8-8 and that keeps everyone happy enough to keep the staff together. That way when Tommy comes back we can see the Tom P vs. Brett J show I was so excited about this year.

Sal,
Check your math as it's closer to two years than one ( not that it makes THAT much difference)
add up the total ages on the Jets and it's 296 yrs for 11 players. Add up the Pats and it's 317 years for the starting 11. That's a difference of 21 years for 11 players or nearly 2 years per player. Not great but not as small as one year...... 28.8 Average age of Pats. v 26.9 Jets

*****2000th post......self-congratulation as this one is better than the usual drivel.
