well it must be really heartbreaking for a player to learn he did not make the team after busting his butt all offseason for a chance at it. hopefully they will play pro ball somewhere in the nfl or the cfl

While its nice to say congratulations here.....how many players do you think read this crap? Save it for when you see them in person. Most posts are questions/opinions based on what we get to see in our limited access. We often ask questions of others to see if they are seeing things the same, and we all develop favorites. Its our community, but dont fool yourself, the players arent part of it. If you watch Discovery chanel do you congratulate the Lion?? LOL
At least you called it crap, so if they do read this that should make them feel better.
Players and their friends and families do lurk on these sites more than the overwrought bashers who call themselves fans care to think. Hopefully they understand that most of what is posted here is crap rooted in football arrogance and ignorance, under the guise of some form of twisted passion for this team and the game. Still, knowing how foolish the people bashing you with such vehemence are likely doesn't take the sting out of what is said. Fans expect all sorts of warm and fuzzy loyalty from players yet give little in return. The guys who cut or keep them at least respect the effort that it took them to get even this far. Less than 300 guys a season make an NFL roster in any way, shape or form. That's less than half the number of armchair geniuses gracing this lowly message board on an average day, quite a few of whom were born convinced they know more about the game than the people who actually get paid to play it and coach it and manage it.
How anyone can find something to complain passionately about relative to a team that has managed to win 80% of the games it's in played over the last several seasons is beyond me...

Can I second that one?? I've lived throgh the entire history of the Patriots and it is a differernt and special time..and I think more should understand that..it's one of perspective..people who complain now are nit picking...and I can imagine where and what they'd be saying years ago..for instance the last time the Pats were 0-4 in preseason with Rod Rust at the helm. Many would not even be fans...there have been some tough times making complaining now almost laughable.

Absolutely. If your son is halfway across the country, working his butt off as a longshot to make an NFL roster, don't you Google his name obsessively?

Thanks, Mo. Guys like Antwain Spann, C.J. Jones, Bam Childress who keep in shape, keep working hard, keep giving their all year after year just knocking on the door of the NFL deserve a lot of respect, IMO.

Hear hear, which is why those "bum" and "going back to K-mart" posts always bug me".

I'll second that second (is that a third or a fourth?).

Beautifully said and the sentiment is shared by many (I'd like to think most) of us on this board.

I respect your opinions, but in terms of underhandedly bashing other posters, this is a new low for you. I'll never know how the heartbreak of being on the verge of celebrity, and busting your butt for it, only to barely miss out will feel. But like it or not, these players are fair game (from informed and uninformed fans alike) for the same reasons the law defines libel differently when it comes to public figures.
For such a lowly message board you're on here an a lot.
I know they have a plan, but this smells like 05 to me with the secondary issuies.. its going to be a work in progress, it would have been with Bryant it will be even more without him
