72 Malcom Floyd WR
San Diego TBD Unrestricted

I was actually wondering why I didn't have him on my list in the other thread, but here he isn't a FA at all. The list is wrong in this regard.
Right. Malcom's older brother Malcolm is a 40 year old retired WR who last played I believe in 1999. I'm pretty sure the other poster was referring to Malcom but instead called him Malcolm, who is technically an NFL WR that's not under contract right now. So the Pats could sign Malcolm if they wanted, but they'd be awfully disappointed when a 6' tall 40 year old shows up. Malcom, as you said, was incorrectly called a free agent.

Okay yeah, I think he played way back for the Houston Oilers in the mid '90s. I did not realize that he was his older brother...talk about having a ton of people confused. What the hell was their mother thinking?

I too would like a reasonable chance with Nnamdi. The problem is that there are probably many other interested teams also, especially if he were cut.

Philly is in good cap position and also has the option to ask him for a pay cut, which I think I read an article saying that he is expecting that to happen.

He'd certainly be worth a look for the right price, but I personally only think there's about a 50/50 chance that PHI will cut him. I hope it happens.

DRC obviously hasn't lived up to his potential either, and also has some concerns of laziness and even attitude, IIRC. It's a shame because he was one of the up and coming players at one point. He'd have to be pretty cheap as far as CBs go to bring in for a look, and even then many here still wouldn't want him.

Our take:
It’s hard to find someone with a bad word about DeVito — my “NFL Sunday” partner Matt Chathamplayed with him briefly in New York and raved about his skill level and how well he would mesh with the New England system. His versatility is impressive, as well as his willingness to see the bigger picture. (He took a cut in his base salary before the start of the 2012 season to help the Jets’ try to get some cap relief; he was able to make a chunk of it back by hitting playing-time incentives.) In 2010, the Patriots were able to swipe Danny Woodhead off the New York roster, and the running back went on to great success in New England. DeVito isn’t as an underrated presence as Woodhead was, but it appears he can bring the same sort of under-the-radar impact. Don’t break the bank for him, but he could be the sort of guy who could end up playing a lot of snaps in New England’s system if he signed with the Patriots.
I'm aboard the DeVito bandwagon. He would've made a nice 7th-round story in 2007 instead of
the garbage Bill pulled from the trash can. He can play both 3-4 DE & 4-3 DT, is durable, and
will bring toughness, attitude & a talent upgrade over Love & Deaderick.

She wasn't...

The older brother was allowed to name his sibling, and he named him after himself—their father introduced the spelling difference.

I'm of the belief that Welker was ready to sign a deal, and then he found out how much Pierre Garcon made, and said I'm better than him and have been doing it for longer, so I deserve more than that scrub. The market is truly ridiculous these days, as illustrated by Talib's perceived value.

Almost cut, traded for a 4th, suspended, oft injured, baggage, 1 INT= 50 mil

I think I'd be just as stubborn as BB about changes to philosophy if change required you to wildly overpay for mediocrity (unless it's already on your roster)

If Michael Johnson hits the market, I'd like to see us get him. He's a sharp guy and has the versatility that BB loves. Bad news is that he wants to stay in Cinci, Cinci wants him, and if they can't agree to a deal, they will tag him.

It Is What It Is » Free agent snapshot: Cornerback Brent Grimes

BRENT GRIMES
Position: Cornerback
Age: 29 (will turn 30 on July 19)
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 183 pounds

. . . . . (click the link above for the full column)

Our take: A few things are in play here: One, with Grimes, it all comes down to his health. If the Achilles is healthy, there’s a chance he could return to something close to his old form, which was working as a pretty good corner. Not a lockdown guy, but still better than most. Two, Grimes comes from Atlanta, a team cut from the same cloth as the Patriots — Atlanta personnel chief Thomas Dimitroff made his bones in the New England organization. And if Grimes isn’t in Atlanta’s plans going forward, he would almost certainly give Bill Belichick the unvarnished truth when it comes to whether or not Grimes has anything left. And three, if Talib is gone and they don’t feel like some of the younger possibilities (like Ras-I Dowling) aren’t going to be able to contribute on a regular basis, then Grimes could work. If the Patriots feel good about all three of these points, then it would appear to be a pretty good match.
