Patriots Player of The Game: Aqib Talib
The New England Patriots hosted the New York Jets for a week two divisional showdown.
The Patriots won in a dogfight, 13-10, holding onto their narrow lead as time expired. While the offense struggled, the defense capitalized on New York's mistakes. Throughout the first two weeks, the team has been solid defensively. Here is my player of the game. --
Aqib Talib: There are a number of players who played great tonight defensively, but Talib has to be the player of the game in my opinion. Cornerbacks Alfonso Dennard and Kyle Arrington also played outstanding, but Talib's two interceptions -- including the eventual game-winner -- sealed the deal for New England.
Despite a lack of pressure on Jets quarterback Geno Smith, the secondary won more than their fair share of battles throughout the contest. Talib and the defensive backs did a great job staying with their man and undercutting pass routes. After year's of the Patriots defense scrambling for answers, they seem to have a quality unit for 2013.
