October 13, 2013, is a day that New England sports fans will forever remember as “Comeback Day”.

Nine years ago today it all began when the 4-1 Patriots were trailing against the 5-0 New Orleans Saints 27-23.

At the 2:16 mark of the fourth quarter, it appeared quarterback Tom Brady threw a game-sealing interception, but his defense managed to hold the Saints to a 3-and-out thanks to some questionable play calling.

With 1:13 remaining in the game, Brady and the offense got the football back at their own 30-yard line, what resulted was the future hall-of-fame quarterback creating his 39th career game-winning drive and leaving the visiting Saints stunned.

Brady moved his team 70 yards down the field, even converting a big fourth down, and finished off the drive by finding wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins in the back of the end-zone for a buzzer-beater touchdown with five seconds remaining.

The Boston Sports Info Twitter account shared the memorable finish below.

The Patriots pulled off a miraculous 30-27 victory and it was only just the beginning.

Fast forward to later on that night, Boston’s baseball team pulled off a comeback of its own when David Ortiz launched a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to tie game two of the American League Championship Series at 5. The Red Sox would go on to win in extras and eventually win the World Series title.
