The New England Patriots went 4-0 November and two key pieces to their success took home monthly awards from the NFL this week.
On Thursday, the NFL announced that quarterback Mac Jones was named the Offensive Rookie of the Month and cornerback J.C. Jackson was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month.
The awards mark career firsts for both players as Jones becomes the first Patriots rookie to receive a rookie of the month honor since Chandler Jones in 2012 while Jackson becomes the first AFC Defensive Player of the Month honor for the franchise since 2019 when Stephon Gilmore and Devin McCourty each won the monthly award that season.
Prior to Jones, Deion Branch is the only other Patriot to ever win an AFC Rookie Offensive of the Month award.
During the month of November, Jones completed 76-of-99 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. He completed 76.8 percent of his passes and had a quarterback rating of 117.2, the latter leading the NFL. Jones’ 4-0 record in November made him the first rookie quarterback since Dak Prescott in 2016 to go perfect during the month in the Super Bowl era.
As for Jackson, he recorded four interceptions during the month, returning one 88-yards for a touchdown while contributing to a defense that allowed just 26 points (6.5 points per game) in November.
