After a strong bounce-back performance against the Houston Texans, Patriots kicker Nick Folk received some recognition on Wednesday.

The NFL named Folk the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week thanks to his four field-goal effort against the Texans, which improved the club to 2-3 on the season.

After missing an early extra point, Folk went on to hit four field goals, including two kicks of 52 yards.  He also hit what ended up being the game-winner following a 15-play drive in the fourth quarter where quarterback Mac Jones burned seven minutes off the clock, leaving Houston with no time to answer.

Folk drilled the 21-yarder to put the Patriots up 25-22 with 0:17 left to play, which ended up being the final score.

The veteran has been dealing with a left knee injury and came close the previous week against Tampa Bay of hitting a go-ahead kick that could have forced Tom Brady to have to lead a come-from-behind drive.  Unfortunately, Folk’s 56-yard attempt clanged off the left upright and fell to the turf, which allowed the Buccaneers to sneak out of Foxboro with a 19-17 win.

Folk continues to be a bright spot for a club that every week is watching their rookie quarterback continue to get a little better.  Hopefully, Folk can build on last week’s efforts when the Patriots host Dallas this Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
