On Wednesday, news broke of New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore testing positive for the coronavirus.
Gilmore later took to his Twitter account to share a statement regarding the current state of his health.
In the tweet, Gilmore confirmed that he is asymptomatic as of Wednesday and says he has followed all COVID-19 protocols.

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Gilmore went out to dinner with teammate Cam Newton this past Friday night.
Newton tested positive on Saturday and has remained on the COVID-19 reserve list since.
Appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia Wednesday, Schefter said he wasn’t surprised to learn of Gilmore’s positive COVID-19 test following Newton’s own, but he declined to offer any more specifics on their night out.
“I happen to believe — I was told that in the New England area over the weekend that Cam Newton and Stephon Gilmore were spotted having dinner together on Friday night,” Schefter said. “And I was aware of that over the weekend. So to hear that he tested positive, I’ve gotta be honest, is not overly surprising to me. If you’re at a dinner table with somebody who’s got the virus, there’s a chance I would think that you’re going to get the virus, right? So that’s what we’re dealing with this morning. I think it’s a crisis.”
As a result of testing positive Wednesday, Gilmore will be unavailable for this Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos as it will not be 10 days since his positive test was reported.
Here are the latest rubrics on treatment — and return to work/play — from the updated NFL-NFLPA COVID-19 protocols.
One subtle but notable tweak: A positive individual may not return until at least 10 days after symptoms *were reported*, rather than when they first appeared. pic.twitter.com/JPyjrgp9RY
