During the summer of 1994, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was just a young high school football quarterback preparing for his senior season that fall.

In an interview with local bay area television station KPIX previewing the upcoming season, Brady was prominently featured in a segment about “the football stars of tomorrow” with players that “may be the names you’ll be hearing about for years to come” said reporter and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Fouts.

When asked about his game and style, Brady provided an answer that Patriots fans may find familiar today.

“Everybody tells me I have a pretty strong arm, which is good. I’m pretty accurate with it,” Tom said. “I think I need to work on my speed a little bit, but hopefully that will come in time. I have a pretty good work ethic so I think I can get the job done.”

For the post part, his answer foreshadowed even bigger things to come that even Brady himself could not have imagined, except of course his speed.

Despite all the criticisms Brady took on from high school right up to the NFL Draft, the interview just goes to show never give up on your dreams, and 23 years later he enters his 18th NFL season as a five time Super Bowl champion.
