Ben Roethlisberger Asked Tom Brady For His Jersey Before Game
Charles LeClaire - USA TODAY Sports
There is a common misconception that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is disliked by NFL players as much as his opposing fans, but on Showtimes Inside The NFL program this week, viewers were given an inside look as to just how much Brady is respected by those around the league.
As part of a new trend of jersey exchanges, before kickoff on Sunday, Showtimes cameras caught injured Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger go up to his rival Brady to say hello, explain how much he wished he was playing and then followed up with the unexpected request for a jersey.
“Hey, listen, I’ve never done this before but I would love to get a jersey at some point. It would mean … There’s not many that I want. I’m going to put it in my office. You’re the best, dude.”
For a brief moment in time, the cameras were able to catch two of the most successful quarterbacks in the NFL of the past decade share a mutual embrace for each other that most wouldn’t see from the outside perspective. This was not the first time “Big Ben” showed high praise for Brady, before the start of the season he was quoted saying “Tom’s the greatest in the world, and I mean that.”Â
With both the Patriots and Steelers considered top AFC title contenders, a healthy Roethlisberger just might get his second chance later this season. He is 2-5 lifetime vs Brady, 0-1 in the playoffs.
