The Chicago Bears have traded linebacker Jonathan Bostic to the New England Patriots, according to Field Yates of ESPN.
The Bears will receive a sixth-round draft pick in the deal, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The 6’1, 245-pound linebacker was taken in the second round (50th overall) of the 2013 NFL draft out of Florida.
It’s important to note this deal is pending a physical, because Bostic has not been active this season due to an ankle injury and had a back issue during the pre-season.
In his rookie season, Bostic started nine games at middle linebacker, but hasn’t found a place as Chicago transitions to a 3-4 defense.
The Patriots have Jamie Collins, Dont’a Hightower, Jerod Mayo and Jonathan Freeny currently on the linebacker depth chart. Dane Fletcher (knee) is on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
