Patriots Transaction News and Notes: Pats workout Monte Ball, Five others
According to a source given to Patriots beat reporter Doug Kyed, the Patriots invited six players into Foxboro for workouts on Tuesday afternoon. Most notably was former Wisconsin standout running back Montee Ball, who owns the NCAA record for most career rushing touchdowns at 77 and overall touchdowns at 83.
Ball was drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos and played in all 16 games his rookie season. He rushed for 559 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2013 before a groin injury limited him to just five games the following season. The Broncos waived Ball on September 5th 2015.
Other players invited to the workout included a few undrafted and former practice squad members for emergency roster depth. The list included running back Darrin Reaves, Tight ends Brandon Bostick, Konrad Reuland & Brian Leonhardt, along with Quarterback Zac Dysert.
