There was no surprise news on Tuesday after Tom Brady returned to New York for the final settlement hearing, which resulted in the two sides once again reportedly failing to come to a settlement agreement.

According to ABC News, Federal judge Richard Berman said he would issue a written ruling on Tuesday or Wednesday, which means Brady could learn soon enough whether or not he’ll be suiting up for the home opener on September 10th against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brady has remained adamant about his innocence, writing on his Facebook page last month following Roger Goodell’s decision to deny his appeal, “I am very disappointed by the NFL’s decision to uphold the 4 game suspension against me. I did nothing wrong, and no one in the Patriots organization did either.”

Patriots owner Robert Kraft initially withdrew his own legal action against the league, seemingly in hopes that Goodell would realize his own people made some mistakes and potentially reduce the four-game punishment he handed down.  That didn’t happen, and Kraft surprised everyone when he spoke out about it last month.

“For reasons that I cannot comprehend, there are those in the league office who are more determined to prove that they were right rather than admit any culpability of their own or take any responsibility for the initiation of a process and ensuing investigation that was flawed,” said Kraft.

“I have come to the conclusion that this was never about doing what was fair and just.”

Now we’ll find out in the next couple of days what conclusion Berman reaches.
