FOXBORO, MA — The Patriots have re-signed cornerback Kato Serwanga. Terms of the deals have not been disclosed.
Serwanga started the final three games last season after Pro Bowl cornerback Ty Law went down with a broken hand late in the year. During those starts Serwanga made 29 tackles, intercepted two passes and had a sack.
With the current contract situation with free agent cornerback Steve Israel, Serwanga will have a chance to compete for the starting cornerback position when New England opens training camp later this year in Smithsfield Rhode Island.
Serwanga originally signed with New England on April 24, 1998 as a non-drafted rookie free agent.
