The Patriots locked up their free safety for the next seven seasons when Lawyer Milloy signed a $35-million contract yesterday, and head coach Bill Belichick was the first to express his thoughts on the fact Milloy will be part of his team.
It appears that yesterday’s release of Ben Coates was made to finalize the signing of safety Lawyer Milloy, who according to the Boston Globe is expected to sign a new contract today.
The Patriots have cut veteran tight end Ben Coates.
The Boston Globe reported this morning that the team has agreed to the terms of Lawyer Milloy’s agreement, but they’ll now need to sit down with Milloy and his agent Ray Anderson to work out the structure of the deal.
