FOXBORO, MA — The Patriots have added Mike Woicik and assistant Markus Paul to their coaching staff in their attempt to replace former strength and conditioning coach Johnny Parker.

Woicik is a New England native who was a track standout at Boston College and has been the New Orleans Saints conditioning coach for the last three seasons. He also spent seven years with the Cowboys, and another 10 years as conditioning coach at Syracuse. As for Markus Paul, he was Woicik’s assistant in New Orleans as well as a former defensive back coach with the Chicago Bears and strength coach at the University of Syracuse.

New England may also bring in some additional competition for newly signed runningback Raymont Harris. They appear to be showing interest in veteran free agent back Adrian Murrell from Arizona. Murrell is a former Jet who played under Belichick, and is apparently interested in coming to New England. He is expected to visit the Patriots at some point next week. Another team who is showing an interest is the Miami Dolphins who have Karim Abdul-Jabbar testing the free agent market.

Wide receiver Troy Brown is expected to visit Kansas City next week, but that meeting could be postponed in the event the Patriots get back to Brown’s agent about a new long-term contract. Brown had received an offer from New England averaging about $2.5-million per season, but Brown declined the offer due to the fact that the deal was back-logged. After seeing what happened to Ben Coates and Bruce Armstrong, Brown is reluctant to sign a contract that has the majority of the money due at the end of the deal.
