I think the Patriots already know if Waters' is coming back to be honest. It's hard for me to believe that a player would keep his team "in the dark" for this long about his future. I believe they already know.
It's extremely hard for me to believe that about Carter. Carter's a very smart, humble man (think, Ray Allen personality wise) who not only has never mentioned money ONCE in his entire NFL career, but also knows that he's 34 years old coming off a major injury.
Carter said it himself in a...
This is just BB doing his "due-diligence" in case of an injury. There is no reason to sign another WR at the moment. But you can never be too prepared in case you do need one.
It's hard for me to get too excited about Jones based on one preseason game to be honest. The only thing that keeps popping in my mind are past preseason performers that bombed (remember when Chris Baker scored 2 TD's in the first preseason a few years ago, and everyone went nuts?) Now, I...
This is a very interesting question to me, as it forces me to try to separate my biased feelings towards the Patriots.
Let me start off by saying that if you take the current Patriots team and put them in last years Superbowl, we would of won. I truly believe that.
Looking at this team now...
Like everyone's stated in this thread...BB doesn't have the "FU" card to play this coming season. And another factor that made the 2007 year so great was it was Moss's first year with us....teams simply had NO idea how to stop the juggernaut as there was no film and nothing to study...
I've actually read the opposite about Addai. Apparently, both Ridley and Vereen have been looking up to him as a veteran leader. The guy seems to (at least, from what I've been seeing/reading) fitting in quite nicely here.
It's hard for me to imagine 4 RB's on this team, but the 4 here are...
Chung has been oft-injured so far in his career and a lot of teams are going to be hesitant to sign him to a long term, big money deal IMO, so we have that in our back-pocket.
I remember hearing that Baltimore was preparing to pick up Hightower to be groomed as Ray Lewis' eventual replacement. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill, and IMO that helps show what teams thought about him. Some players are just too good to pass up, and that is why I think BB went out...
Harvin reminds me of one of those good/great WR's who is just simply stuck on a team with no direction. I think Brandon Lloyd was the same way...great WR who simply was in bad situation(s) and never really got into a teams offense. Harvin just doesn't seem to like Minnesota, and something...
I remember reading a few months ago that Carter wanted to come back and the Patriots wanted him back, and that the Pats/Carter were just waiting on his injury to heal. If that's true, its simply a matter of "when".
Carter will be back.
I liked Graham when he was here, but I think his time in the NFL is coming to a close. I'd be surprised if any team signs him to be honest. And if some team does...it's due to an injury or as a TC body.
As for coming back to the Patriots...that ship sailed years and years ago. What can...
Yep, Dennard will make this squad. There is already talk that he's probably the 3rd best CB on this team already and he hasn't even taken a snap yet. There seems to be quite a lot of hype surrounding him, not only from the Patriots standpoint but around the league. He'll be on this team, and...
You don't pay for pas performance, you pay for future performance. Gronk is obviously going to be a major, major player in the next 10 years. And he got money reflecting that (I even dare say the Patriots made out in this deal).
I do think Welker should get a 2-3 year extension, but you...
Both Haynesworth and Ocho were well worth the risk, IMO. Nothing prior to last year showed anyone that Ocho was going to suck as bad as he did with us. It's always easy to say "that was a mistake" in hindsight....but at the time, who really could blame BB for taking a risk on Ocho? Ocho...
Most of your ST'ers come from the back-half of your defense. Guys who are 4th-6th on the CB depth chart and 4-5th on the Safety depth chart all play very prominent roles and make up 3/4's of your ST's unit.
This is also a defense that plays sub-packages over 65% of the time. that means, at...
You may be right, but I think at the end of the day, this will be a non-story with no long-lasting effects to Dennard and his standing with the Patriots. Just my opinion.
The D-Line competition this year is going to be a great one to watch. A lot of players lobbying for the spots. Outside of Wilfork, Love, Deaderick, and Jones, it's really an open competition.
